Subject: huggies diapers From: sara Date: 11-Jun-02 can anyone tell me the difference btw huggies ultra trim diapers and huggies superme diapers? is one better than the other for EB babies? thanks
Subject: RE: huggies diapers From: sylvia & gabriella Date: 12-Jun-02 we used the supreme. at that time, 6 1/2 years ago, they were softer, more expensive and the elastic was not as tight. my daughter gabriella 7 y/o w/ebsdm made out ok w/them. we potty trained early and she was out of diapers by 2 y/o. sylvia
Subject: RE: huggies diapers From: Sandy Date: 13-Jun-02 I never used anything but Huggies Supreme, so I don't know about the other. I didn't have any problems with the Supremes and didn't feel like experimenting was worth it for Amber. Sorry I can't tell you about the Ultra Trims, but I can tell you we have had very few problems with the Supremes. I have been surprised as I expected quite a few diaper problems. Amber (RDEB) is a little over 2 and we also potty-trained early. She now only wears a diaper at night. Even though we have had few diaper problems, I wanted to get her out of them as soon as possible.
Subject: RE: huggies diapers From: Laura Date: 14-Jun-02 Just curious, I've seen over and over on these messages that the consensus on diapers for EB babies is for Huggies. Maybe I didn't use them right? Did ya'll do anything special? We've been Pampers users from the time Carissa was able to wear diapers. She wears pantyhose under her diapers, and I cut slits in the waistband of the diapers and tuck cast padding into the waistband. Huggies tabs were so big that they rubbed her to death. We also had trouble with staying dry with Huggies. They leaked in the back. (She would be wet up to her shoulders after a nap.) Anybody else have probs with Huggies? Maybe I'm missing something? I'm tempted to try them again, but you know how you hate to buy a whole bag if you can't use them. Thanks in advance for your input, Laura
Subject: RE: huggies diapers From: thomas824 Date: 14-Jun-02 Dear Laura: I have been using huggies ultratrim since Antonio was born. I tried the Supremes but they did not work as well. Antonio is 2 years old with RDEB. He has gotten so big that the Ultratrims are starting to rub his thighs and cause problems. He is in the largest size. He is not ready to be trained yet, but I happened to try the pampers easy ups because the store was not carrying the size I needed for him anymore. The Easy ups are working out even better than the huggies. They are very soft around the thigh. I hope this is helpful. Patty in New Jersey
Subject: RE: huggies diapers From: Mary Date: 17-Jun-02 My daughter is 7 years old RDEB, we always used Huggies Supreme, but we also put a cloth diaper on her first then the Huggies Supreme. I think it worked so well because of the cloth like of the diaper. Hang in there. They are potty trained before you know it and then you have to deal with underwear with elastic.

Subject: RE: huggies diapers From: Bec Date: 18-Jun-02 My son dose not use huggies he use pampers and the best they are like cloth and was what they told me to use on my son and since I use thoughs he has not had a blister and that is the best and I pay the extra for them but they work the best they come in the yellow and perpole pakege. Subject: RE: huggies diapers From: Sandy Date: 18-Jun-02 Laura, one thing I have done a lot is use a generic form of Desitin wherever the diapers would rub. I also have always bought her diapers big. I usually have her in diapers one size bigger than is recommended and this has worked pretty well. My daughter is 2 and has RDEB. But remember, what works for one doesn't always work for another. If you have found something that works for you, stick with it unless you feel a real need to change. Also, the tights have been a good thing for Amber. I never tried them under a disposable diaper, but I use them under her underwear and they protect her a lot. I slit the waistband of the tights in front and in back so that it won't be tight (they still stay up fine) and as far as I know I have never had a blister from the tights. Hope this helps somebody. Sandy
Subject: RE: huggies diapers From: Amanda Date: 22-Aug-02 Unlike most of the parents that have responded to you I was only able to use the Huggies Ultratrim diapers. I tried the Supreme because I thought they would pull even more of the moisture away from my daughters bottom preventing any more out breaks, but it turns out she was alergic to something in the supreme diaper material. It took all the skin off her bottom, and two months to heal. I do swear by Huggies and wouldn't use anything else my suggestion stop use at the first sign of trouble.
Subject: RE: huggies diapers From: Draha Date: 31-Aug-02 I can clearly see, reading the above posts, that people have completely different experience with these two types of diapers (Huggies vs. Pampers). I believe it is best to try both and see in which your child does better. We tried Huggies but did not work for us and we are using Pampers without any problems. I always buy size bigger than what we should and cut the entire elastic out. I also put a Cetaphil cream on Katie every time I change her diaper (on the torso, back and tights) and rash ointment. She then rarely has blister in the diaper area. I am also trying to potty train her and it is comming along very well. Draha
Subject: RE: huggies diapers From: Sandy Date: 31-Aug-02 I just read back over my post where I said that I used Huggies Supremes. I was wrong. I use Huggies Ultra Trim. Up until now they have worked, but they have just recently become "NEW AND IMPROVED." The improvement, unfortunately, seems to be an extra piece of elastic that rubs right on the cheeks of her bottom. I have been ripping that piece off, but I may have to go looking for a different brand. We are having lots of trouble with her behind and I'm afraid it's from the new improvement. Sandy
Subject: RE: huggies diapers From: Misty (DDEB) Date: 03-Jan-03 Hi, My daughters both have DDEB, and we have been using Huggies Ultra thins all along. With my first born, I tried every kind on the market. Our biggest problem was not the elastics, but the tabs them selves. Pampers have a hard plastic tab that has both velcro and tape on it. At the fold, it rubs on the thigh, and creates friction blisters. Then they are impossible to heal, because every diaper rubs on it over and over. I use the Huggies because the stretchy sides reach to mid tummy, and nothing sharp or painful touches my baby. My baby is 2 months old, and I don't dare use anything else, because I am doing my best to keep her healed up. Good luck with which ever you choose. Misty
