Honoring Eli and All Those Living with EB

On Saturday, November 1, 2025, the Rendon-Espinosa family and their San Antonio community will come together for the Do It for Eli 5K, an event created to honor Eli, a young boy living with Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB), and to raise awareness and for all those impacted by this rare condition.

Hosted by Eli’s mom, Sabrina, the event brings together families, friends, and neighbors in a powerful show of love and support, reminding Eli, and others living with EB, that they are never alone in their journey.

Join the Rendon-Espinosa family on Saturday, November 1 at The Greenline in San Antonio, Texas, for the Do It For Eli 5K. Registration is free, and raffle tickets and event t-shirts will be available for purchase at the event. RSVP HERE

Can’t make it in person? Make a donation to debra of America in honor of Eli here.

Do It For Eli 5K EB Awareness Week
Q: What inspired you to create this event for Eli?

Sabrina: We were inspired by Eli to create this event. Lately, he’s been asking more questions—wanting to understand his condition, why we were born like this, and if there are others out there like him… and like me, his mom, who also has EB.

EB Awareness Week felt like the the perfect time to show Eli—and others like him—that they are not alone.

We want Eli to see that no matter what challenges he faces on the inside, he is deeply loved for exactly who he is. He is the strongest boy we know, and through this event, we hope he feels that strength reflected back to him from his community.

Q: What do you want people to know about Eli and his journey with EB?

Sabrina: Just because Eli looks a little different doesn’t mean he is different.

He loves all the things any typical boy loves — playing basketball, tossing a football, hanging out with his friends.

Eli is full of energy, determination, and heart. He does everything in his power to make sure Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB) doesn’t control his life.

He wants to be included, just like everyone else — because he is just like everyone else where it really counts.

Q: What does it mean to you and your community to rally around him in this way?

Sabrina: It means the world to us to see all our family, friends and community come together in support of Eli. Your kindness and generosity remind us that we’re not alone. Every donation, every share, and every word of encouragement makes a difference. Please continue to help by donating and sharing Eli’s story- together, we can give him and others who suffer and live with EB the support they truly deserve.
