Stronger Together: Highlights from the 2026 debra Care Conference
More than 900 members of the Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB) Community gathered in Los Angeles from July 26-29 for the 2026 debra Care Conference (DCC), creating four unforgettable days of education, connection, support, and hope.
From families attending for the very first time to longtime members of the EB Community, healthcare professionals, researchers, industry partners, and volunteers, the conference brought together people from across the country and around the world with a shared goal: improving the lives of those affected by EB.
Throughout the week, attendees had the opportunity to learn from leading experts, connect with others who truly understand the EB journey, and celebrate the incredible strength and resilience that defines this community.
The conference officially kicked off with the debra of America's Gala, where attendees reconnected with old friends, met new members of the EB Community, and celebrated the beginning of an unforgettable week together.
Learning That Makes a Difference
Education has always been at the heart of the debra Care Conference, and this year's program featured our most comprehensive educational lineup yet.
Attendees explored topics spanning the entire EB journey, from daily wound management and pain, itch, eye care, oral health, surgery, mental health, pregnancy, advocacy, research and more. Over 80 expert speakers and community leaders participated in the over 70 sessions offered.
Many attendees shared that they left with new knowledge they could immediately apply to everyday life, while healthcare professionals gained valuable insights to help improve care for individuals living with EB.
Finding Joy Together
While education is at the heart of the debra Care Conference, some of the most meaningful moments happen between the sessions. Throughout the week, attendees of all ages came together to laugh, reconnect with old friends, make new ones, and simply enjoy being surrounded by a community that truly understands the EB journey.
Whether cooling off at the pool party, singing along at karaoke, watching children and teens build new friendships, or sharing conversations that stretched long beyond the scheduled events, these moments reminded us that joy and connection are just as important as learning. They are what transform the debra Care Conference from an educational event into a family reunion.
Capturing the Moment
Throughout the conference, internationally recognized muralist Kyle Holbrook created one-of-a-kind community murals inspired by the strength and spirit of those living with EB, while award-winning photographer Ari Espay captured complimentary family portraits that will serve as lasting reminders of an unforgettable week together.
Kids and Teens
From our youngest attendees to our teenagers, there was something for everyone at this year's conference. The Kids Zone was once again filled with creativity, games, and smiles, while our new Teen Lounge gave older attendees a dedicated place to connect, unwind, and spend time with peers who share similar experiences.
Looking Toward the Future
The excitement surrounding advances in EB research was evident throughout the week. Attendees heard updates on emerging therapies, participated in discussions about clinical trials, explored research posters, and connected with organizations dedicated to advancing treatment and improving quality of life for those living with EB.
Our Discovery Hall provided another opportunity for attendees to meet with exhibitors, advocacy organizations, and industry partners, learn about new resources, ask questions, and discover the latest developments supporting the EB Community.
Each conversation reinforced the progress being made—and the importance of continuing to work together to move the field forward.
